I just got my period yesterday. For some reason this month I didn't get
depressed the week or 2 before my period. Right now I feel pretty good.
Can anyone explain this?

Your estrogen level may have fluctuated some, possibly because of
changes in diet or it may be related to age. Sometimes just things like
that change without us ever knowing why.

Thanks David. BTW I'm 42 years old now and started menstruating when I was
11. Could it be that I'm starting the change of life now. Also, I was
adopted when I was a baby so I don't know how old my birthmother was when
she started the change of life.

Its possible, but I would make an appointment with a physician, who
could run the appropriate tests. I'm not really a doctor (or therapist,
for that matter), and probably shouldn't be giving out advice so freely
like this.

If I understand correctly most women begin menstruation in their mid
50's, but in some cases I suppose it could start a little early,
especially if there is an underlying condition present, such as a
homonal imbalance of some kind.

I've made an appointment with my doctor yesterday and I told him about what
I explained here. He gave me some pain medication and scheduled me for an
ultrasound of my uterus to see what's causing my heavy period. Hopefully,
it's nothing serious.
